Everware announces J2EE Express program

FAIRFAX, VA - March 1, 2002 – Everware, a leading provider of enterprise component solutions for the Global 2000, today announced general availability of the J2EE Express program. This service offering is a rapid, 4-week proof-of-concept project resulting in a full-featured pilot application targeted at a defined portion of the customers business. The main focus of the effort is to build as much of the application as possible, often 50-80%, using pre-engineered software components, particularly Everware enterprise components, dramatically reducing the amount of traditional manual development.

The J2EE Express program consists of three main elements. The primary element is services targeted at determining the business and technical requirements of the pilot application, assembling and configuring selected software components, and building the browser-based User Interface. The second element is education in the form of seminars covering various J2EE and enterprise component topics. The final element is the components themselves, including limited-use or evaluation licenses.

During the first week of the pilot, Everware consultants perform business analysis resulting in data and business-rule requirements as well as a story-boarded user interface with workflow. A component architect reviews the material to identify notional components, and to select components for acquisition. The second and third weeks are focused on assembling and configuring the acquired components, refining the user interface, and unit testing. Because of the iterative build process, J2EE components are deployed as completed. The fourth week is dedicated to testing and tuning the entire application and preparing for the demonstration at the completion of the project. Although all work is performed by Everware consultants, the client’s technical and business representatives play active roles due to the collaborative nature of the project.

According to Warren Ellmore, President of Everware, “The J2EE Express program is an ideal way for companies that have selected J2EE as a standard environment to experience a rapid, full-lifecycle success. The key is assembling applications using J2EE enterprise software components, thereby allowing technical resources to concentrate more of their efforts on unique business requirements. The J2EE Express program is an integral part of Everware’s mission - bringing real business value through IT solutions.”
