Everware announces Gen2J program

FAIRFAX, VA - March 1, 2002 – Everware, a leading provider of enterprise component solutions for the Global 2000, today announced general availability of the Gen2J Services program. This service offering enables organizations with AllFusion Gen systems to define and implement a transition strategy for Gen systems into the Java and web worlds. Gen2J Services provide a multi-dimensional path from the Gen legacy environment to the internet using today’s leading web technology: Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE). With this program, IT organizations are quickly able to tie Web applications to Gen applications using Computer Associates’ (CA) Java Proxy and Web Client Enablement (WCE) products. A unique feature of the Gen2J approach is that it allows multiple application technologies to “co-habitate” in a seamless manner. This capability greatly reduces the time and effort required to create new web-based applications, while leveraging the investment in Gen enterprise applications. Gen2J Services help organizations to implement a phased evolution from legacy to J2EE applications.

Everware’s Gen2J Services program consists of four phases: Assessment, Architecture, Implementation, and Deployment. The Assessment phase determines the baseline for evolving the organization’s applications to the J2EE environment and establishes the objectives and timeframe of the program. The Architecture phase builds upon the Assessment to determine the stages of the Gen2J transition and what Technical, Application and Component Architectures are required for each of these stages. The results from the Architecture phase provide the blueprint for the Implementation phase where the development and integration of systems is performed. Finally, the Deployment phase moves the resulting web applications into production. The Implementation and Deployment phases can be performed in an iterative manner, providing faster time to market for incremental enhancements.

According to Warren Ellmore, President of Everware, “The Gen2J Services program provides our customers a proven way to extend their Gen applications to the web, increasing the ROI of these applications by leveraging an IT organization’s previous investments in mission critical applications. This new program is another example of Everware’s mission - bringing real business value through IT solutions. Gen2J Services enable organizations to take advantage of the millions of lines of Gen code in production and to improve the responsiveness of IT to business needs.”
